Ignition, jewellery exhibition: 13 jewellers newly graduated from L’École de joaillerie de Montréal, will be presenting their latest creations at the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec from June 5th to 21st 2015.
Montreal, May 22, 2015 – The 13 graduates from Le Cégep du Vieux Montréal en techniques de métiers d’art, option joaillerie, will be presenting their final projects at the Musée des maîtres et artisan du Québec. This final project is a collection composed of a necklace, a bracelet and a ring, that the students have conceptualized, fabricated and into which they have successfully integrated techniques learned throughout the last three years of training. While some prefer more traditional materials, such as precious stones, gold and silver, others took the unconventional route and dared with materials like plastic or caribou vertebrae. We would like to invite the general public to visit this unique exhibition where these one of a kind masterpieces can be viewed and purchased. Limited edition collections created throughout the past year by these up and coming jewellers will also be available at the museum shop. The museum will also be showcasing the works of the first and second year students.

The theme of the exhibition, Ignition, is representative of the energy that this cohort projects: a dynamic new generation, creative and committed. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to discover creative universes in turmoil, admire the possibilities of metal and the richness of this profession where the artist plays with molten materials, controls the flame and makes it his ally. Profession: craftsman-jeweller.

The exhibition will be held from the 5th to the 21st of June 2015. L’École de joaillerie de Montréal is very pleased to be in partnership with le Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec, with whom they recently collaborated to present the retrospective exhibition of the school’s 40th anniversary.
